How does laser hair removal work ?

What machine do we use?

We use only USFDA approved laser hair reduction devices (1) Primelase HR Excellence and (2) Light sheer diode. To achieve effective hair removal the treatment must be able to adapt to all types of skin and hair . Does it Hurt ?

Everyone's pain threshold is different. Treatment can feel like a pinch or an elastic band flicking against the skin. The sensation is well tolerated by 99% of patients .

Will it work on lighter hair ?

Lasers are attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle hence , darker the hair, better the results.

How many sessions will I need?

On an average 6-8 sessions placed 4-6 weeks apart are needed for effective hair reduction. Results will vary from person to person, so if you notice you are hair-free sooner, you can keep the extra sessions for 6/12 months top up. Maintenance session requirements however vary individually.

Can I wax in between appointments?

You cannot wax, pluck or epilate in between sessions as these methods remove the root which is what the laser needs to target. You can shave as normal in between appointments.

Why is my regrowth patchy?

In order for laser hair removal to be effective your hair has got to be in the active growing stage. Only around 30% of our hair is at the stage at any one time and this is why you will be patchy and need multiple sessions .

Can I use Sunbeds ?

You should not use sunbeds in between sessions. if your skin is burnt or tanned it could cause burns or pigmentation . If you have been exposed to the sun, please let us know as the setting will need to be adjusted.

What is the minimum and maximum age of laser hair removal?

You will need to be 16 years or older to receive laser hair removal treatment. There is no maximum age.

Will it work if I have PCOS?

Long term studies have shown up to 90% hair reduction in women who have PCOS over a period of 19 months. You will see a difference in hair growth after your first couple of treatments. The doctor may ask for additional blood tests before the start of treatment and may (or may not) provide additional drugs to supplement laser hair reduction.
